The Minnesota Arts Board provided funding for "Jump-Start Your Fiddle" to introduce adult, beginning fiddle players to the basics of old-time fiddle music. Old-time fiddler and MSFA member Mary Pat Kleven, Cannon Falls, MN, coordinated the project. In this project, old-time fiddling is defined as fiddle music, primarily for dancing or singing, written or played before 1900.

"Jump Start Your Fiddle" officially ended October 19, 2013.
